Family Friendly Activities - Adelaide and Surrounds.

Although I don't have children, I understand how difficult it can be to find ways to keep the whole family entertained on holiday. Adelaide is filled with family-friendly activities - many of which can be done on a budget! 

So here is a list of kid-friendly activities. Read it, share it with others and enjoy!!

 

Popeye cruise

Take a leisurely sightseeing cruise down the River Torrens. Boarding at Elder Park, sit back and enjoy seeing popular attractions like Adelaide Festival Centre, SAHMRI, and Adelaide Gaol.

Captain Jolley Paddle Boats

Another awesome activity on the River Torrens is the Captain Jolley Paddle Boats. The pedal-powered boats are the perfect source of fun for families.

Tree Climb

Push your limits with Tree Climb, Adelaide's first inner-city aerial park. Suitable for all ages, as long as children are over 100cm tall. With over 52 challenges, Tree Climb is filled with progressively challenging obstacle courses! If you are wanting something for the smaller adventurers, Tree Climb offers 3 kids' courses with 21 obstacles all ending with a zip-line.

Adelaide Botanic Gardens

50 hectares of beautiful gardens and stunning architecture is the perfect way to spend the day with family, bring a picnic or have lunch at one of the cafes within the Botanic Gardens. Bring a footy or frisbee and enjoy some of the large open spaces to spend some quality family time.

Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park

Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Parks are 2 bucket list items for families visiting Adelaide. Do a day trip to visit these very unique destinations and if you really want to feel immersed, book an animal experience!

Cleveland Wildlife Park


It's not very often you have the chance to hand feed some Australian Native Animals.

Sports game at Adelaide Oval.  


A true experience is being a part of the crowd during a sports game at Adelaide Oval. Cricket, Footy, no matter the season, there is always something to see!

South Australia Museum 

Another free activity in the heart of the city is the South Australian Museum. 5 floors of endless wonders to discover with multiple galleries and exhibitions including, biological science, humanities, mineral science, taxidermy animals, and the largest collection of aboriginal artefacts in the world!

Space Discovery Centre

The Australian Space Discovery Centre provides education, engagement and inspiration for young Australians based on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Immerse your family in the knowledge and history of space!

Bounce

Basketball lanes, dodgeball courts, soft play areas, unique climbing walls, and performance trampolines, how can it get much better? Bounce offers something for everyone, from little ones to adults, Bounce is filled with fun, action-packed adventure!

AFL Max

The Beachhouse

The Beachouse, located in Glenelg, is the perfect place to spend a day for family fun. Heated indoor Waterslides, arcade games, bumper boats, dodgem cars, mini gold course, indoor playground, and cafe! No entry fee, just pay for what you want to enjoy!

West Beach Mini Golf

West Beach Mini Golf offers an 18-hole mini golf course,  a great place to spend a sunny day.

St. Kilda Adventure Playground


One of the best playgrounds in Adelaide for sure! Bring a picnic or food to use the available BBQs. The playground offers many attractions including castles, a flying fox, many slides, a basketball court and swings.

Ice Arena

Real-life snow experiences are available at the Ice Arena, with different-sized rinks for different-aged children to try ice skating!

Funtopia

Funtopia is an indoor adventure playground with a 5-level playground, 25 interactive walls to climb and a separate playground for children aged 2 and below. Funtopia also offers a cafe for parents to sit and have lunch, and a cheeky wine or beer while kids play til they drop!

Farm Barn

Hahndorf Farm Barn is a great place to get your children to be up close and personal with animals, they have the chance to milk cows, ride on tractors and horses, and feed nearly all the animals!
